An Anglican priest from St. Catherine’s Church in North Vancouver has been arrested and now faces sexual assault allegations.
63-year-old Gordon William Dominey is accused of sexually assaulting five youths from when he worked at a youth jail in Edmonton during the 1980s.
He was arrested in his Coquitlam home on Thursday and has since been placed under administrative leave from his parish.
Geroge Cadman with the Diocese of New Westminster says Dominey worked for over 30 years without having a single complaint against him.
“There’s never been any complaint made against Reverend Dominey in this Diocese at any time to my knowledge.”
He says they follow a very strict policy on sexual misconduct.
Edmonton Police, meanwhile, believe there may additional victims or witnesses and are asking them to come forward with more information.
Dominey’s next court date has not been set.
