The province is spending a quarter of a million dollars to study whether to build a highway linking the Sunshine Coast to the Lower Mainland.
Potential connections include a highway link around Jervis Inlet. The cost and benefits of all options will be compared against current ferry service.
The government announced it would research the options back in September, with Transportation Minister Todd Stone saying the public fully supported of it.
“We have heard loud and clear from people on the Sunshine Coast that they would like their government to look into the possibility of a different connection between the Sunshine Coast and the Mainland.”
R.F. Binnie & Associates has been handed the contract, and is expected to have a final report for review by the fall.
