Family Day has been a stat holiday in B.C. since 2013, with more and more community events each year.
This year it falls on February 8 with day-long events being hosted around the province, many of them free or at a discounted rate.
And British Columbian families have embraced the holiday wholeheartedly.
Whether they’re taking the day as an opportunity to get out and connect with their community, or just to enjoy some much needed low-key family time, it’s no surprise the holiday is a hit.
Before it came into being, the time between the New Year and Easter statutory holidays could feel like a sentence for busy working families.
Community events around B.C.
For this fourth ever B.C. Family Day, dozens of community centres around B.C. will be hosting day long events with a boatload of activities including free family swimming and skating, live music, entertainment, and games, book exchanges, art displays, BBQs, and more.
BC Parks is also celebrating the day around the province with no-fee family fun snowshoeing, hiking, beach combing, wildlife viewing and much more.
