Ted Cruz is projected to win the Iowa Caucus, the first step in the long primary road to the Republican nomination.
Cruz won with 28%.
Challengers Donald Trump and Marco Rubio trail with 24% and 23% respectively.
The Democratic race, meanwhile, went long into the overnight, with both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in a dead heat throughout much of the evening, separated by mere fractions of a percent.
In the end, Clinton took the vote by the slimmest of margins at 49.8% to Sanders’ 49.6%.
Third place candidate, Martin O’Malley, managed just 1% of the vote and says he is suspending his campaign.
