There has been fatal dog mauling in Kamloops.
A 78-year-old elder of the Kamloops Indian Band, Kathleen Green, died Saturday night when she was attacked by a Rottweiler tied up in the back yard.
The dog was tied up in the back yard and emergency crews were forced to shoot it after it continued to be aggressive.
The victim was a residential school survivor lived alone with her grandson on the band’s reserve.
BC Coroner’s Service spokesperson Barb McLintock tells CHNL News these cases are extremely rare but several questions remain unanswered so they have a lot of work to do to determine exactly what led this to become a fatality.
The dog belonged to a family member
