LISTEN: Homeopathy, help or hoax?
What is Homeopathy?
It’s a system for dosing up on a dilute solution of water.
Welcome to the bizarre world of homeopathy.
The Merriam-Webster definition goes like this…
But, it’s more likely you’ll hear something similar to the belief held by Yvette d’Entremont, also known as The Sci Babe.
“Homeopathy is the belief that a very, very, very dilute substance can cure an illness in people.”
If you’re thinking Homeopathy is a hoax, well, it may not be all bad.
“The placebo effect is a very real thing. I mean, it’s a measured thing. A certain number of people will experience a placebo effect when they take it. So, in a way, it is a real thing.”
But, on the other hand…
“In most cases, it’s nothing other than sugar and water. I mean, this can literally just treat you of dehydration and low blood sugar.”
“A lot of people have said that it’s worked for them. I mean, people say it’s cured them of a number of illnesses.”
So, let the debate begin! Does it work? Is it a hoax?
At the end of the day, it’s your body, and your choice – but a bit of caution.
“Buyer beware: be very careful when you’re considering something that says ‘homeopathic’ on the bottle. I think the biggest thing is to look at the label before you buy, and don’t be fooled by something that seems natural and hence, might make you think it’s better.”
