Egyptians in Vancouver are holding a rally this afternoon to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Egyptian January 25th revolution.
Tarek Ramadan is one of the organizers of today’s rally, and he says the purpose is to remember the power of the people, and to unite once again against the injustices happening in Egypt.
“We thought that this would be a better Egypt but apparently it’s not, is getting from bad to worst. So we are echoing our voice with these free men and women who are standing in the streets days and nights and receiving bullets in their heads and their chests to free Egypt from this tyrany.”
Ramadan says it is important for people to be aware of what’s happening in his country.
“The elections and the votes of the Egyptians have been past into the garbage bin, is that the new government that is taken place by general sisi is driving the country into the ground.”
The rally will take place today at 3:30pm.
