One of the the most popular science fiction television shows in recent memory and a key player in Vancouver’s television history is back.
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are finally back after a 13-year hiatus reprising their roles as FBI agents, alien conspiracy true-believer Fox Mulder and his brilliant and ever skeptical partner Dana Scully.
The X-Files revival mini-series premieres tonight on Fox, much to the anticipation of fans, who have been talking about the show’s return ever since it was announced last year.
The X-Files originally premiered in 1993, putting Vancouver on the map as a shooting location.
With plot lines ranging from government and alien conspiracies to creepy “monsters of the week,” it quickly became a cult favourite, spanning nine seasons, 202 episodes, and two feature films.
B.C.’s wet, grey weather is credited with helping to set the show’s dark and mysterious tone.
The show shot in the city for five seasons, helping to solidify the city’s film industry and launch its reputation as “Hollywood North.”
