Capping off a week of cuts in the newspaper industry, another local newspaper is bidding farewell.
After 141 years in the business, the Nanaimo Daily News will close shop on January 29.
On Twitter, they thanked their readers and advertisers for their support.
When asked for comment, the Nanaimo Daily News deferred to their publisher, the Black Press.
They have yet to respond.
Earlier this week, Postmedia cut 90 jobs across the country in the face of declining readership and ad revenue.
