He may not have got a win on health care funding but BC’s Health minister did come away from this week’s summit with some new ideas.
Terry Lake says the provincial and territorial health ministers shared best practices and he is now acutely interested in an health initiative from Nova Scotia.
“They have what is called a personal health record where you have a secure environment whereby you can access your bloodtests and your x-rays. You can actually have an email consult with your physician. Your pharmacist can become part of that circle of care on a secure platform. It is something I am keenly interested in.”
Lake says this system would empower the patient to be part of their own care.
He says this would drive innovation and his staff have been instructed to follow up right away.
