A former Deputy Chief with the Vancouver Police Department is the new top cop at Transit Police.
The Board of the Transit Police has announced Doug LePard has been selected as the new Chief Officer .
His start date has yet to be set.
LePard spent 35 years with the VPD, retiring last year after the other Deputy Chief, Adam Palmer, got the Chief Constable’s job there.
Says Translink Acting CEO Cathy McLay,
“We look forward to working with Chief Officer LePard as Transit Police enters its second decade. His experience and leadership will be a great benefit to the service, the first and only police service of its kind in Canada.”
Jordan Bateman of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation is critical, saying LePard will be double-dipping – getting a pension from the VPD and earning a new salary and a new pension with Transit Police.
