Canada’s Finance Minister Bill Morneau spoke to the Surrey Board of Trade today about Canada’s economy and the federal budget.
Morneau made his inaugural speech in Surrey today to address issues such as social housing and transit.
CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade Anita Huberman says they were pleased to host his speech and glad they were able to discuss transportation.
“We had a chance to talk to him specifically about transportation infrastructure needed in Surrey. I know the Trudeau government is committed to Surrey, certainly that was an election promise.”
However, Huberman wishes some of the promises had been more concrete.
“I think the main thing is we wanted to hear specific announcements.”
She says Surrey’s should be next on the government’s agenda.
“It is Surrey’s turn, it’s time for infrastructure investment related to transportation in our city.”
Huberman says they still remain very hopeful of the future and are looking forward to working together to make things happen.
