We’re getting the first look at how many Syrian refugees in total are arriving in BC, and where.
Until now, the federal government hasn’t told us the destination cities of government-sponsored refugees.
But new data released by Immigration and Citizenship shows more than 440 government-assisted refugees and 34 privately sponsored refugees have come to Vancouver since November 4th.
The second most popular city is Victoria, which has resettled 23 government-assisted Syrians.
34 privately sponsored refugees have come to Burnaby, and 5 to Prince George.
In total, 500 of the almost 9600 Syrians who have arrived in Canada so far are calling BC their new home.
The province is expecting to take about 1,900 refugees by the end of February.
