It was considered physical contact that crossed the line.
A North Vancouver school principal is in hot for after failing to report an inappropriate relationship between an educational assistant, and an autistic boy.
Employees say they witnessed the North Vancouver E.A. getting too close to a 12 year old non-verbal autistic boy.
Kissing him, holding him, and rubbing noses.
It happened early in the 2014 school year.
The events were reported to school Principal William Reid, but he failed to report it to his superiors.
A concerned employee eventually made a report to the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
Reid was suspended without pay for a week last March.
He must now complete a course at his own expense on reinforcing respectful professional boundaries.
The educational assistant in question eventually resigned after a district investigation.
The information came to light in a disciplinary decision for professional misconduct released by the BC Teachers’ Regulation Branch.
