Five years after Premier Christy Clark announced she would bring in an auditor general to patrol municipal over-spending, we have yet another report delivered that finds yet another city is actually keeping its house in order.
It was New Westminster’s turn this time, and Auditor General for Local Government Gorgon Ruth found it “had robust strategic and financial planning practices” in place.
In other words, the city has no financial mismanagement or waste to speak of, it could be clearer when reporting expenditures.
Ruth says the report is favourable: “We have some recommendations, our recommendations though are largely enhancements to what are existing.”
The report examined New West’s oversight of police services and budget between 2010 and 2013.
