Condolences are pouring in for two young men from Chilliwack who died early Sunday in a car crash.
Gerritt Niessen and Connor Dash, were killed in the early hours Sunday morning, their truck veered off Ballem Road and slammed into the Fraser River.
The men, both 18 years old, were good friends and heavily involved in motocross.
The Popkum Motor Park, where the pair were known to ride, posted to Facebook today, writing “The motor family is saddened by the loss of such amazing kids. Gone [too] soon but never forgotten.”
The post has attracted hundreds of likes and dozens of comments of shock, sadness, and condolence.
Nathan Ngieng, Chilliwack’s district principal, school services, says a memorial is growing outside Chilliwack Secondary.
“A memorial started in the parking lot in the parking space where one of the young men parked. Many students were outside paying their respects.”
A small memorial has also been growing at the site where the crash happened.
Counsellors have been brought in to support students and staff.
No word from RCMP on what exactly happened.
