A a young boy is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Maple Ridge.
Ridge Meadows RCMP says it happened around four this afternoon near 116th and Cottonwood Drive, while the boy was out walking his dog.
Staff Sargent Daryl Creighton says the driver stayed at the scene and police are investigating.
“It’s still under investigation, the members are still there the scene. Further information as required will be released in a press release later on, but realistically there’s not much more that’s going to transpire at this point.”
An initial report had indicated that the boy was eight-years-old, but police are not confirming that or releasing any details about the victim.
The BC Ambulance Service says the boy was airlifted to hospital.
No word on whether speed or alcohol were a factor.
