The Liberal MLA for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows is joining a chorus of voices calling for more ambulances and paramedics in his Fraser Valley community.
Doug Bing says the public is underserved, with only two ambulances for a combined population of 100,000.
Bing says he would lobby for B.C. Emergency Health Services to get more funding.
“We have to wait for the study to come through because it has to be an evidence-based decision, but yes, I would. I think that in this area for sure, we need more service.”
An online petition, launched by brain cancer patient Matt Kelso, has gained more than 1,500 signatures.
B.C. Emergency Health Services says it’s conducting a deployment and demand review and the results will be available soon.
