The City of Vancouver is extending the VanDusen Festival of Lights into the month of January.
Sarah Kirby-Yung of the Vancouver Park Board says the move is unprecedented and won’t cost the city any extra money to keep them open longer.
“Well, the lights are already installed, and I think what we really want to do is give people the opportunity who hadn’t had a chance to see them during the holidays. It is limited hours, so it’ll be three weekends and it goes to 8 o’clock not till 9pm or 10 o’clock as the Festival of Lights had done in December.”
Nearly a million lights decorate the gardens for the popular holiday attraction.
