With New Year’s Eve almost upon us, one Canadian police force is taking a humorous approach to try and dissuade people from drinking and driving.
The York Regional Police have produced a satirical video, promoting stays in the “L’Hotel de York Regional Police.”
Shot like a vacation promotional spot, complete with soft elevator music, the video invites drivers to “forget about the outside world, and enter a tawdry fortress of solitude.”
The video promotes door to door service via free hotel shuttle, also known as a squad car.
“Complementary shuttle service will make sure that you have no choice but to make it to your destination.”
It says reservations aren’t required, and reminds drivers who can’t make it to York for the evening that they can stay at one of any number of “partner” locations across the region.
The campaign wraps by reminding viewers that drunk driving is not a joke, and that real consequences range from death to a lengthy and expensive stay in jail and a criminal record.
