A 47-year-old man from California is facing several charges after the SUV he was driving crashed, throwing four people from the vehicle.
None of the four were wearing seat belts, and two children were thrown clear across a four-lane highway.
The crash happened on Highway 97C near the Hamilton Hill area around noon Monday, when the SUV lost control and left the road, crashing into a ditch.
RCMP say there were nine people inside, two families on vacation from California.
Six people inside were hurt, three of them seriously, and all are now recovering in hospital.
The driver is now facing charges of driving without due care and attention, allowing passengers under 16 to ride without seat belts, and carrying too many passengers for designated seating.
