It was the first overtime victory for the Canucks this season.
It took more than half of the first period, but after 12 shots the Edmonton Oilers’ Mark Letestu managed to put a puck into the net to put them up 1-0.
That goal wouldn’t be answered until less than 5 minutes into the second by Jannik Hansen.
Shot after shot was exchanged between the teams, with the game eventually heading into overtime.
With less than a minute left, Jannik Hansen again blasted the puck into the net, ending the match-up 2-1 for the Canucks.
The Oilers did out-shoot the Canucks by 9 with 33 shots on net, but Jacob Markstrom was in fine form holding them off.
The Canucks will stay home to face off against the LA Kings on Monday.
