Five Syrian refugees will join their family in Vancouver this winter.
Canyon Heights Church has been raising funds to bring them to Vancouver and help them settle in.
Pastor Steve Moore is working on multiple arrangements for the family.
“ESL classes, get them connected to a family physician, and start working on some of the details of them getting enrolled in school. There’s a lot of stuff that has to be done kind of right away.”
Once their sponsorship was approved, they were told it would be five years until living in Vancouver was a reality.
In October, that window was shortened by three years.
Moore says that donations are still needed.
He is looking to raise 30 – thousand dollars more to ease the transition.
Relatives rented out a suite in North Vancouver in preparation for their arrival.
