It took a while, but the Canucks snapped their losing streak after defeating the Red Wings 4-3 in a shoot-out.
With a little more than a minute to go in the first period, Jared McCann was the first to fire the puck into the back of a net and put the Canucks up on the board.
The second period sang a familiar tune, with Sven Baerteschi scoring with just under 3 minutes left to put the Canucks up 2-0.
Minutes later Detroit’s Joakim Andersson scored, ending the second period 2-1.
Both sides scored early into the third period, with Pavel Datsyuk bringing the score to an even 2-2 before Radim Vrbata added another point for the Canucks.
Henrik Zetterberg tied the game 3-3 with a minute left in the third period.
After a scoreless overtime the match went to a shoot-out.
Radim Vrbata and Brad Richards scored goals for the Canucks and Red Wings, respectively, before Linden Vey put the final puck in the net, winning the game for Vancouver.
The Canucks’ next game will be in Florida on Sunday.
