As more than 200 privately sponsored Syrian refugees are expected to resettle in BC by the end of the year, a group of surrey students have made it their mission to make sure they feel welcomed.
Teacher Annie Ohana at L.A Matheson school says the Social Issues Club is making care packages to drop off at Welcome House operated by Immigrant Services Society of BC.
“Especially with the news of unfortunate uh like hate crimes and just different negative reactions from certain minority groups we just felt it was imperative to really bring a positive message home.”
The packages which include mittens, books and school supplies are being delivered tomorrow morning.
