Over 300 guests and staff spent the night stuck on Grouse Mountain after the tram shut down due to 100km per hour winds.
Despite the extreme weather warning, Julia Grant from Grouse Mountain says they were still able to run the tram during the day.
“We were safely running the trams during the day so we did our best to run them as much as possible safely to get them down, but we were unable to do that past 11:30. We do our best to keep communication open with our guests on the mountain in events of extreme weather.”
Grant says they warned guests about the weather.
“People were notified on the tram going up that weather was expected”
Some people took to twitter during their time on the mountain.

Stuck on Grouse Mountain. Gondolas not working. I didn’t sign up for this for my Christmas Party!

Grant says they made the best of the situation.
“People were in the chalet, we provided food for them through the night, we had blankets, we had Christmas movies”
The tram is the only way down the mountain other than hiking.
