As battles between taxi companies and Uber continue in Canada’s big cities, Metro Vancouver’s suburbs are looking to see if ride sharing is an option for them.
Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam have become the latest to show an interest in the ride sharing service.
Both cities have opted to ask the province to look at changing the Transportation Act to allow for Uber.
PoCo Mayor Greg Moore says he’s had great experiences with Uber in other cities.
“So, why not give an opportunity for us to use excess capacity in cars that are driving around with just one person in them? Why not have competition in the taxi industry?”
One Uber feature Moore likes that’s not available from cab companies?
The ability to rate individual drivers, and to turn down a driver based on reviews.
