The support for Syrian Refugees in Vancouver has been overwhelming.
Access Art Gallery Director Kimberly Phillips says a Facebook post to accept donations quickly went viral Thursday night.
“Suddenly the entire city came and dropped off things for people in need.”
“Everything from the youngest child walking up to me and handing over her teddy bear, feeling that someone could use it more, it was just heart wrenching.”
Phillips says they saw no shortage of love during their collection drive.
The items collected went to the Middle Eastern Friendship Centre in Surrey, near the Gateway Skytrain.
The Centre says they too are overwhelmed with support from donations, but can still donate toiletries, gift cards or cash.
Phillips says several other shelters she spoke with in Vancouver are also at maximum capacity from donations for refugees.
