Many are calling for an increase in policing on the Granville Strip after yesterday’s warning regarding an increase in “sucker punch” attacks around the downtown core.
However, speaking to Jon McComb, VPD Constable Brian Montague says it’s not that simple.
“We do have extra officers on the weekend. Quite a number of extra officers, and one of their goals is to identify problem individuals early in the night so they don’t cause problems later on, but it is up to the individual themselves to really think twice before they do something they might regret.”
This warning comes as a 34-year-old Richmond man remains in hospital with severe brain injuries after he was punched in the head last month while enjoying a night out with his wife.
