With a cold snap gripping the city, and forecasts saying temperatures will remain below freezing this week, the city of Vancouver is eager to share their winter weather response plan.
The city says it’s prepared to deal with any snow storm which may be headed our way. Ken Brown from Streets Operations for Vancouver says they say they are constantly monitoring forecasts because it’s important to take action before the storm gets here.
“Any event that’s coming, if we can get all our salt and brine down in advance and we can get it before any storm event comes. If we can get it down it gives us a three to four hour window before we have to do any salt treatment of plows”
With El Nino warming temperatures in the Pacific, Environment Canada says it’s likely we will experience more extreme weather this winter.
