Canadian private colleges are offering $2 million dollars in scholarships to help Syrian refugees.
“You know you want to help these individuals. They haven’t had the life we’ve had, it’s more like giving back.”
Gwen Donaldson with the Canadian Tourism College in Vancouver says there is a huge demand right now for tourism and hospitality workers.
It’s offering five scholarships to Syrian refugees.
“The value of these programs is roughly just under $25,000.”
Sprott Shaw College is also offering up to 13 scholarships at each one of its BC campuses.
It’s part of a larger National Association of Career Colleges initiative to help as many as 200 refugees with tuition costs and ESL classes.
