The Vancouver Police Gang Unit is apologizing after sending out a Tweet some consider “fear mongering.”
It was warning youth about the dangers of a marijuana derivative called Shatter.
It’s made from extracting THC from the plant, then making a concentrate of up to 90 per cent THC that users can smoke.
The tweet said “we cannot lose any more young people to senseless overdoses.”
The thing is, health officials say Shatter cannot cause a fatal overdose.
After a backlash online, the gang unit has apologized for the inaccurate Tweet.
The drug, which can cause temporary psychosis, is being sold in some Vancouver marijuana dispensaries.
The original tweet, as seen below, has now been deleted from their Twitter account.
