Crews with North Shore Search and Rescue have found a teenager lost in Lynn Canyon Park.
NSR Search manager Doug Pope says they found the West Vancouver 15-year-old shortly before eight PM.
“He’s safe and sound, he was very cold but otherwise uninjured.”
Pope says the boy had become separated from his family, when darkness fell.
“He had gone ahead with the intention of meeting them back at the parking lot, but he missed the turn to go over the suspension bridge and kept going down the East side.”
Pope says the boy was wearing a warm jacket, but has no cell phone or any other gear.
He says the rescue is a good reminder that it’s now winter conditions on the mountains, and crucial to bring proper gear.
“It’s really good to have a backpack with extra clothing that you can put on. A headlamp, a map, some kind of way to communicate.”
He adds it’s important to stay with your group, and to pack other hiking essentials like food and a first-aid kit.
