A Surrey sports club is mourning the loss of a cherished member, believed to be the man killed in a deadly shooting yesterday.
The Surrey Field Hockey Club took to facebook to post about the death yesterday, writing:
“It is with profound grief, sorrow, and disbelief, that we announce the passing away of a great friend, a brother, a mentor and member of our club, Surinderpal Singh Hehar, earlier today.”
The post goes on to say that both the club, and his team, the Surrey Lions, will remember the legacy he had for the sport locally.
Members posted comments expressing mourning the loss saying he was “literally the nicest and most genuine guy out there,” and “will be missed by all in the hockey fraternity.”
Another wrote “Sad to see a brother go this way. Difficult times for family and friends. A inspiration to young and old . Rest in peace.”
Other members took to their personal Facebook pages to express shock and dispbelief, and confirming Herar’s death in the shooting.
The shooting happened early yesterday morning, at 152 Street and 66A avenue in Surrey.
Two gun shot victims were taken to hospital, where one person died of their injuries.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is leading the investigation.
