The BC Coroner has confirmed that the body found yesterday near the site of the Tofino whale-watching incident is indeed the victim who’d been missing.
He was 27-year-old Raveshan Morgan Pillay of Australia. Pillay was among three dozen tourists on the Leviathan II when the vessel capsized last month near Vargas Island.
Five British nationals were confirmed dead right away, while a sixth person was declared missing. The coroner says surfers reported finding the remains yesterday on the beach of Vargas Island.
The Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate exactly what caused the boat the flip over.
