Anyone who’s taken Skytrain knows about that yellow strip on board to press in case of emergency.
Turns out it’s activated a lot, in fact thousands of times every year.
According to numbers obtained through freedom of information, between January 2012 and September 2015 the yellow strip on board Expo and Millennium line trains was activated just over 11,000 times in total.
Translink spokesperson Anne Drennan says the number one reason most commuters press that strip is because of disruptive behaviour.
“…and that would be things like open alcohol, unruly passengers, the playing of loud music on the train, smoking on the train.”
The second biggest reason for pressing the yellow strip is for delays on the system.
