The BC Lions’ bid to get to the Western Final was stamped out by Calgary in a resounding 35-9 loss in the division semi-final.
It was all Stampeders nearly from the get-go; following a Richie Leone field goal to put BC ahead 3-1 following a Rob Maver single, Jonathon Jennings hurled an interception into the hands of Bryan Burnham for a quick pick six.
From there it was all downhill, with Calgary tacking on 21 more points in the second and third quarter. Jennings was taken from the game after suffering what appeared to be a shoulder injury, bringing in backup quarterback Travis Lulay to finish the game.
Lulay wasn’t much of a factor though, going 10-for-19 and 119 yards with no touchdowns.
The usually reliable run game of Andrew Harris was also kept in check as he was limited to 79 yards on the ground.
Calgary will meet Edmonton in the Western Final, while the BC Lions will address the media at their locker room clean out tomorrow from Surrey.
