Vancouver got its place on the world stage with Expo 86, the 2010 Olympics, and then… Snapchat?
Local social media junkies are rejoicing, as the service brings it’s coveted “Live Stories” feature to the city.
When Vancouver goes “live” tomorrow, the popular social media platform’s more than 100-million users worldwide will have the chance to view Vancouver through the eyes of its home-grown snapchatters.
Essentially, the function allows users to take a photo or video of the city, modify it if they like, and then submit it. The best photos are curated into a stream visible to Snapchat’s global viewers.
The move will put the city in distinguished company. Other cities that have been broadcast from their residents’ smartphones include New York, LA, Dubai, Berlin, and Barcelona.
The result, according to Snapchat, is “a story told from a community perspective with lots of different points view.”
If you’re a Snapchat addict, or just hoping to get your handiwork seen around the world, the platform has fairly simple instructions on how to submit a picture or video here.
But you’ll want to pick your shots carefully: going by the reaction on Twitter you’ll have hot competition.
