“In some of the cases the cards actually had price tags on them, indicating what they were valued at, at time they were purchased”
Surrey RCMP is looking to re-unite hundreds of collector sports card to its rightful owner.
Sergeant Paul Hayes says they have two collections of sports memorabilia, one dedicated to baseball and the other, a general collection.
They were found on different occasions in the last two months.
One was seized as part of stolen property and the other collection was found on the side of the road.
“There are certainly some names in there that I remember from my youth, in hockey and in football, both in American and Canadian Leagues. There are also some baseball and basketball names that I recognize. These players would have been rookies at the time and I suspect their fame and fortune now has made their cards quiet valuable”.
Sergeant Hayes says the worth of both collections will be kept under wraps.
The RCMP will use the estimated worth of the cards as an indicator if the rightful owner comes forward.
