It was a school prank that had a community on edge and now a 15-year-old in handcuffs.
A Saanich student has been arrested, and could face charges of mischief, after he allegedly posted a picture of a weapon on social media last week, warning students not to come to school the following day.
Police Sergeant Steve Eassie says it responded with a large police response, both inside and outside the high school, until the suspect was tracked down.
Apparently the student said it was just a joke, but nobody found it funny.
He’s been released from custody, and isn’t allowed to attend the school in question.
He’s also banned from using social media.
