Could you buy groceries for a week with $21 dollars?
Vancouver rockstar and philanthropist Bif Naked is trying to do just that. She joined Lynda in studio to talk about her meal strategy and why she’s skipping calories to raise awareness.
It’s all part of the Welfare Food Challenge, which challenges participants to survive on a welfare budget.
Which means they only eat the food they can buy with $21.
For the entire week.
That’s a total of $3 per day for food.
Maybe so, but that’s what people who live on welfare face everyday.
This is the Fourth Annual Welfare Food Challenge, and Bif’s second year trying it.
“And let me tell ya, I ran out of food, half a week in.”
She says it meant she didn’t eat for the last few days of the challenge.
This time she’s taking a different strategy and it entails a lot of chick peas, eggplant and zucchini.
