“The scale over here is mind boggling”
The BC new auto market pales in comparison to China, which has more than 63-hundred new vehicle car dealerships, and they sold 24-million vehicles last year, according to the head of the New Car Dealers Association of BC.
Blair Qualey is in China on a trade mission being led by Premier Christy Clark.
He’s visiting with local dealers and auto manufacturers about ways his organization can help the emerging Chinese automotive market, and also learn best practices to service the ever-growing number of Chinese-speaking vehicle buyers in BC.
Qualey says they do things quite grand in comparison to BC and Canada.
“You know aside for very large and very nice waiting areas for customers while you’re waiting for your car to be repaired, they actually have a massage room, where they have some of those big electric massage chairs available for people while they’re waiting for their cars”
Qualey says BC’s auto industry generates $11-billion in annual revenue, with dealers anticipating 200-thousand new cars sold in 2015.
