As Canadians are getting ready to turn their clocks back one hour on November 1st, one Kamloops man is fighting to stop the practice of changing the clocks in British Columbia.
Bob Dieno has launched an online petition to stop the practice of c hanging our clocks twice a year. He want to remain on one time, preferably Daylight Saving Time (DST), all year long.
In just 5 days, Dieno’s petition attracted over 9900 signatures.
B.C.’s Health Minister Terry Lake says it may be time to reopen the discussion about the twice yearly time change in the province.
Lake says it’s not a simple issue, noting that ending the practice would put the province out of step with its neighbours, He does admit the time change can impact health.
“There are lots of studies that show that people really do have almost a jet lag for a while after the time change, and that can impair their ability and concentration and things like that.”
