Hazmat crews were called to downtown Vancouver this evening after a suspicious package arrived at an office by mail.
Specialized crews with the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Service were called to a tower at 777 Dunsmuir after an unknown liquid arrived in a package.
Captain Jonathan Gormick says there’s no risk to the public, but they’re analyzing the contents.
“It’s packaged in such a way that it probably doesn’t present an overt harm to anyone who’s handled it. But we’re still curious what’s inside the package.”
One floor of the tower has been closed off while crews investigate.
Gormick says the fire department is liaising with the Vancouver Police, who may join the investigation.
