It looks like the so called “no fun” city of Vancouver will finally get a New Years Eve party.
It’s a party that’s been three years in the making. No surprise, considering Vancouver’s track record when it comes to holding large public events at night. But perhaps it;s only hockey that brings out the worst of us.
This party is geared toward a more family-friendly crowd, with a countdown at 9 p.m., so families with younger children can join in.
Charles Gauthier with the Vancouver New Year’s Eve Celebration Society says the party at Canada Place will include live bands, food trucks and fireworks.
“It will look very similar to Canada Day at Canada place, but on a much smaller scale obviously because of the time of the year.”
Gauthier says festivities will wrap up just after midnight.
