If you are looking to get your dog’s ears pinned down for cosmetic purposes, you won’t be able to have it done in BC.
Members of the BC College of Veterinarians will no longer be allowed to perform cosmetic ear cropping procedure on dogs.
Dr. Emilia Gordon, Senior Health Manager at the BC SPCA says the organization supports the ban.
“For two decades we’ve been on record opposing these cosmetic, non-therapeutic surgical procedures because they can definitely impact an animal’s ability to have good welfare and to express natural behavior and communicate with other animals”.
Dr. Gordon says if a veterinarian were to perform the cosmetic procedure, the individual could face animal cruelty charges under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
