Everyone in the close-knit town of Tofino is sending their thoughts and prayers to the survivors, the victims’ families, the staff at the whale watching company, and the first responders.
No one can seem to say enough about the members of the Ahousaht First Nation, who helped rescue those who could be rescued from the water.
Everyone wants to help; a local pizza shop sent some pizzas and cookies to the small hospital last night where several people had been rushed for treatment.
A woman inside that pizza shop this afternoon says the Ahousaht are holding a recovery dinner tonight for those who responded to the sinking.
She adds the area where the boat went down is very rocky and there have recently been very low tides.
