It’s a search which ended in tragedy.
Pemberton Search and Rescue crews have found the body of missing hiker Michael Charles Low, who was last seen Friday night.
Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair with Whistler Pemberton RCMP says he was spotted in a crevasse on Anniversary Glacier in Joffre Lakes Park — apparently the victim of a fall.
“It looks like a slip and fall kind of type thing where he slipped, slid for a distance on the glacier, and then fell into the crevasse.”
Crews were originally hopeful it would be a successful rescue, given Low was an experienced and prepared hiker and the weather was co-operating in the search.
Eight crew members and a helicopter were on the scene trying to track him down.
Crews are waiting for daylight Monday morning to recover the body.
