According to the National Hurricane Centre, Hurricane Patricia made landfall about 85 km northwest of Manzanillo at 4:15 p.m. Friday afternoon.
“Satellite images indicate that the center of the eye of Patricia made landfall at approximately 615 PM CDT”
The maximum winds are estimated to be 270 km.h.
Residents of Puerto Vallarata are watching the storm anxiously.
Josue Jiminez says for now — it’s just rain and grey skies.
But he says his catering business has already feel the impact of guests being told to leave. He believes tourism could be in big trouble if the storm hits hard.
“It’s going to be bad. Businesses in that industry they run seasonable. And the season just started like two weeks ago. So we’re right inthe middle of the season, so this is when we have the most work. So it is to hit us there.”
