It looks like Queen Elizabeth Park will soon be the most romantic place in Vancouver.
That’s where Park Board Members have decided to place the long awaited Love Locks Sculpture.
City Councillor George Affleck says this sculpture will be a place where couples can place padlocks symbolizing their love.
“There were five locations they were looking at, they zeroed in on Queen Elizabeth Park for various reasons and I think it will be a great addition and great attraction for the park.”
Before deciding on the location, the city set up an online survey and asked residents to choose their top pick.
According to the staff report, no one location came out the winner.
“The most popular locations, with the greatest proportion of votes were English Bay Beach Park (33%), Queen Elizabeth Park (24%), and Kitsilano Beach Park (23%).”
Park Board Members are still deciding what the sculpture will look like, and where exactly it will live in the park.
